These famous Athenian coins, which had become an identifiable civic coinage in the second half of the previous century since the tyranny of Pisistratos, showed helmeted Athena on the obverse and her owl on the reverse. To the left, an olive branch; to the right, the first three letters in Greek of the city Athens.
