Alexander the Great and Herakles coin pendant

Alexander is shown with a plumed helmet; Herakles on the other side is shown in combat with the Nemean Lion, with the word 'Alexandros' following the contour of the lion's back. Herakles' club is in the corresponding position on the left, behind the hero. The Macedonian royal house claimed Herakles as its legendary ancestor.
