The 'owl' side of a replica of an Athenian silver coin of the 5th century BC. These famous Athenian coins depicted helmeted Athena on one side (here on the reverse) and her owl on the other. The owl is flanked by an olive branch, and the first three letters in Greek of the city Athens. This design was to remain on the coinage of Athens for centuries to come.
