Nike of Samothrace

The original statue, standing at 9 feet tall, is made of marble from the Greek island of Paros. She was found on the island of Samothrace in the northern Aegean Sea, and dates to ca 220-185BC.

Winged Nike was the ancient Greek goddess of victory, success, and achievement. The sports brand takes its name from her: its logo is inspired by the shape of her wing.
