geometric oinochoe with birds and ibex

A lovely miniature. A seated ibex is flanked on both sides by two pairs of birds, separated from the ibex by a stylised geometric flower.

Geometric art, which flourished ca 900-700 BC and is thus some of the earliest Greek art we possess, is characterised by the use of horizontal bands across the pot and often linear drawings of human beings and animals.
