product description

Height: 27cm

The bull's head and labrys (double-axe) were sacred symbols in Minoan culture and art. The shape of this pithos is filled by spirals and decorations characteristic of Minoan art. The original, dating to ca 1580-1450BC, was found on the island of Psira close to Crete and is now in the museum in Heraklion in Crete.

Our collection of Minoan pottery is made in Greece. The vases themselves are manufactured in Greece, the images transferred and painted by hand. The texture, colouring and final finish is as close to that of the original as possible.
